How to take a layout and max it out with MATS!
This is a scrapbook layout we made some time back.
When I say "layout", I don't mean on a beach (even though a layout of a beach is lovely).
I refer to two 12" x 12" pages.
In this case, they are an ensemble or go together.
This was one of the Jackson layouts (sorry, no longer available).
Nice enough on its own.
But, it becomes massively special when there are my memories added:
Here are a few FUNN Tipps for you:
ONE
Cropping - when you cut a photo to be smaller - a photo to be the same size.
I wanted to put two photos with approximately the same size people in the lower right corner of the layout, but it just wasn't going to work with trimming (or cropping).
I trimmed one photo, then used it to determine where to trim the second photo - the lazy way.
Zip Snip on the trimmer and I got what I wanted.
And here is the finished products. Two photos which are the same size - perfect for this space.
TWO
Mats fulfill several duties on layouts:
a. they add some pretty
b. they provide a space to add written details
c. they give the photo some visual attention
d. mats can add cohesiveness to a non-cohesive collection of photos
e. they can act as an efficient buffer between the the photo and background
f. create a visual triangle
g. set apart your focal photo
Is that enough for you?
It is enough for me to say, yeah, I see the importance of mats!

The mat on this tricky photo, unifies the photo - literally.
Since I chopped it in two, I needed a mat to make it look like one photo.
